For my inquiry, I have chosen to write a blog about my progression in fitness. It has always been a goal of mine to gain muscle and become more toned. I want to be stronger and active so that I can improve my overall health and wellness. I have been going to the gym consistently since last year, and I have noticed a difference in my muscular strength, but since BC closed all gyms and fitness facilities in December 2021, I have not been able to workout for a long time. Since gyms have reopened, my goal is to go consistently 4-5 times a week for at least one hour. I will record all of my workouts each week and post them to my blog with the amount of weight I hit for each exercise. Over time, I hope to notice a considerable difference in the amount of weight I am able to lift.
In addition to recording and posting my workouts and progression in fitness, I am planning to do some research on proper workouts for women. Ever since I began going to the gym, I have had tons of advice and support from trainers, coworkers, friends, and family on workouts I should be doing. I am very thankful for their help, but most of the advice I have gotten have come from men. Men’s bodies work differently than women’s, and we are able to do different things just because of how our bodies are made. Some workouts that I have been told to do either would not lead to the desired body I want, are too hard and heavy for me, or could potentially lead to injury. I want to find proper workouts for women and detail the benefits they have on our health and bodies so that I have a better understanding of how I structure my fitness goals and active lifestyle.
My research on women’s workouts and healthy lifestyles, as well as my goal to be more active myself, will benefit me as a future teacher because I will gain an understanding for how we can incorporate activity in our daily lives and how it benefits our health. I am so excited to teach physical education and my research will help ensure I teach my students healthy habits that they may not learn at home.

I really like the approach you’re taking to your free inquiry project in that you want to improve your overall health and wellness by going to the gym. I think using a blog is a great way to track progress because you can look back on how you felt (mental and emotional health) rather than just tracking the exercises you did (physical health). Also I can’t wait to see what you discover through researching women’s workouts/health because I think it’s a very underexamined topic.
